Craig Lucas was perhaps my first friend in Ohio when I came to Kent to attend graduate school. I have known him for nearly 30 years. His passion, his openness and honesty, his belief that art can be a transformative power in one's life have been an inspiration to myself and many others. My heart goes out to Janet and Kate, Erik and Ian, Dennis and Francine, and the many people whose lives were touched by this amazing artist and generous man. His enduring support and friendship have been a tremendous part of my life, and will never be forgotten.

Kent State in the nineties was life changing for me. Craig was definitely an important part of that change. His art spoke to me and his support of me as student was invaluable. Today I am reminded of how my experiences at Kent are at the core of my being today. Thanks Craig! You will be remembered.

Craig was there for me as my primary painting professor during my first few years at KSU. He chose me for an internship which eventually changed my life in wonderful ways. A few years later, he helped me get into the Art Therapy program at Ursuline by writing one of my recommendation letters. While he held nothing back in critiques, he showed how he cared in the one on one moments in the studios. He was tough and challenged us. He helped prepare me for living life as an artist. He will be greatly missed.

I've known Craig for 16 years - first as an undergrad studio art student and then as an MFA student. Seeing Craig around town and on campus was always a pleasant occasion and my goal was to hear his distinctive laugh.

My favorite memory of Craig was when I was in an undergraduate Drawing III class with him. He offered the best criticisms and praises of drawings for everyone - if they made an effort. One class there was a student

Craig was incredibly inspiring to me as a student. Some teachers are impactful and amazing. They force you to think differently, come up with new approaches to problems, and find out which problems are worth working your tail off. He was without a doubt one of these. A rare breed. The world 'ideal' comes to mind. He was definately a favorite to me, he will be missed, but remembered.
